Isaiah 40:11

“He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young.”

The Lord is our shepherd. He is a shepherd who leaves His flock of ninety nine in order to go after one wayward sheep who strays from the flock.

How easily it could have been for the shepherd to write off the wayward sheep. But he doesn’t. Instead, he goes out and looks for that sheep. When he finds it, he brings it back and rejoices.

That is the picture of our loving Saviour. He is a Shepherd who loves all His sheep – not just the good ones. He loves both the obedient sheep and the stubborn sheep. His desire is that all His sheep will be protected and well cared for. He secures the good sheep in safe places and goes out to bring in the wayward sheep.

He feeds His flock. The Lord is a sustainer of His sheep. He provides them with their needs in due season and satisfies their mouths with good things. That is His promise to you today. He is able to meet your needs.

He gathers the lambs in His arms. The Lord is a keeper of the weak among His sheep. He knows when the going is tough and reaches out to pick us those who are buffeted by the storms of life. When you are weak, His strong arms with keep you safe.

He gently leads His sheep. The Lord is a guide to those in need of direction. He does not force us to go His way. Rather, He leads us gently with His still small voice and inspires us with His spirit in our hearts


Prayer: Shepherd of my soul, satisfy my heart and hold me in your arms today Isaiah 40:10-14
