AS A LITTLE CHILD
Scripture: Luke 18:17

“Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it”.

God wants us to be child-like not childish. The two are not the same. To be childish is to act immaturely. To be child-like is to act with the positive attributes of a child such as honesty, sincerity, trust and faith. As we mature in life, God wants us to retain these great qualities of children in our relationship with Him.

God wants us to come to Him in faith and trust Him absolutely. He wants us to be sincere before Him and open our hearts to Him in honesty.

Many of us are familiar with the story of the young three- year old who was instructed by his father to tell a debt collector that he was not in. That father had heard the voice of the debt collector outside the house so he hurriedly sneaked into his room, hid behind a door and told his three-year old, “tell him that I am not in”

On being asked about the whereabouts of his father, the little boy told the debt collector with a straight face, ‘my father is hiding behind the door but he says I should tell you that he is not in’.

The kingdom of God cannot be accessed with doubt and deception. We cannot scheme our way into the blessings of God. Neither can we trick God into doing us favours when our ways do not please Him.

If we want to enjoy the fullness of God’s blessing, we must come to Him with honesty, sincerity, trust and faith. Christ wants us to receive the promises of the kingdom with the heart of a child.

Prayer: Give me a pure heart, O Lord, and help me to serve you in truth. Scriptural Reading: Luke18:15-17
