COMPLETE FAITH
Scripture: Genesis 22:8
And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering”.
Our walk with God is progressive. As we learn to trust Him, He moves us along in faith and in spirit. Even if you start with little faith, He can help you to grow your faith. Little faith lives by the dictates of what is seen; great faith relies on what God has said. Little faith panics; great trusts.
The path for growth in our walk with the Lord starts when we commit to becoming students of God’s Word. That commitment leads to a compelling desire to experience the Lord’s presence, develop greater intimacy with Him and be conformed to Christ.
As we progress along that path, we develop deeper trust and heavy reliance on the Holy Spirit, evidenced by the habit of looking to Him before making decisions. We do not make decisions and then go to the Lord for Him to sanction what we have done. In time, we learn to wait on God and take Him at His Word.
Beyond taking God at His Word, we can go on to an even higher level of faith where unbelief is cast out and only trust in God remains.
Abraham displayed flawless confidence when God commanded him to sacrifice Isaac. Little faith would never have cut any wood or saddled donkeys to make the trip for the sacrifice. Great faith would have travelled as instructed, believing in God to work things out, but would have hesitated about putting Isaac on the altar.
Abraham’s faith was beyond great faith. He had complete faith. With complete faith, Abraham believed what the Lord had assured him concerning his seed, yet he set out to obey divine instructions that appeared to contradict the promise.
That is where God wants us to get to: complete faith.
Prayer: Let my faith be complete in You, O Lord. Scriptural Reading: Genesis 22:1-9
