Christian Music?
On going debate in my family-The older people-my dad and my brothers think that Christian rap, Christian rock is bad because to them it sounds too worldly, but other younger people in my family--my sister-in-law, my cousins, and me think that it is no big deal as long as it has a good message to the song. I have known some pretty heavy Christian music that portrayed the emotions of the situations and the words perfectly for what I was dealing with at the time, where as my dad and brother more like the slow harmonious music or the peppy gospel music better. My dad has a problem with the beats of the drum, he says that some witch doctors can use it to call demons, but I am sure that the Christian bands would do no such thing with their beats. He says we are supposed to be different than the world and our music should not sound similar to secular bands, but then if that is the case why not do everything different than the world than just music?

I like most music genres but I would like to see what you guys think.

Sara Groves will be going in to the studio to start working on her next album later this month, but before he does that, she'll be making a few stops in select cities together with her band to play some amazing shows and share her music.

RE: Christian Music?
Ahh! The same ole' argument between young Christians and the more experience generation of Christians. I spent two years at a college that considered themselves Independent Fundamental Baptist. It was extreme: skirts, no music with drums, no touching between genders (including high fives and shaking hands), and the works. Among this they also were very much so against any form of CCM (contemporary christian music). I will tell you what I think about that situation by saying that I no longer attend that college and have gotten my spirit back. Being in that environment opened my eyes to several facts about both sides. Peroxide, God does not specifically tell us that music with drums is bad. What God says about music is that it is a powerful thing. Young David could change Saul's mood with the strings of his harp. There are also SEVERAL verses all through the book of Psalms talking about different instruments being used for the glory and praise and honor of our God. Psalm 100:1 "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands." Pardon me but, a joyful noise I highly doubt is a quiet noise. lol. As long as the lyrics are encouragement to your heart and your Christian walk I know that God accepts it as a form of worship. Man may look on the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. It's a hard place to be when you are not allowed to express yourself as a Christian in a way that makes it your expression and not someone else's expression. I've been there and had that discussion SOOO many times...just keep digging in the Bible for the answers...they are there. Smile Sorry this was so loooooong....

RE: Christian Music?
I hope I can help
For me this was A big issue 10-18-1990 I had got rid of all my secular music country, rock, and classical ect and what I listen to now is how does my music measure up to All of the bible

last year I had the same issue,a church said It is worldly to me So I dug deep into the bible

EXODUS 32 7 thru 32
Look at verses 17 and 18 Joshua said it was A noise of WAR ,Moses corrected him and said it was the noise of them that sing ! this is where I get (IT IS THE BEAT) that is wrong
What made moses mad was when he saw the calf ,In Verse 24 Aaron said to moses I through the gold into the fire And OUT POPPED A CALF now thats A wolpper

Now look At EXODUS 32 4
and he( Aaron) took Gold and made an IDOL and said these be thy gods He Is the Spiritual Leader At the time moses was up the mountian

another passage Is
EZEKIEL 28 satan was created with the abilty to play music not that he was in charge of the music

On the other side of the coin I do not flant my freedom that i can listen to any christian style in front of my weaker brothers and I ask them not to put CHURCH bondage on me

A side note A groupe ApologetiX they take secular songs change the words and sing about the word of GOD for me it is a tool to reach the lost and witeness to them

hope this helps

GOD BLESS
