INTEGRITY
Scripture: Job 31:6
Let me be weighed on honest scales, that God may know my integrity.
The word integrity, by the way, means "wholeness" or "consistency." A person with integrity is consistent in what he says and what he does.
For example, a delivery boy with integrity will deliver the ordered goods at the determined time every single time. A restaurant with integrity will deliver a good quality meal in a reasonable amount of time for a fair price - every time. A newspaper with integrity will publish each issue on time.
Having integrity means in your life there is no gap between the way things are and the way things ought to be.
It requires that our private life be consistent with our public life - that we act the same whether people are watching or not.
Let’s look at three things you can do to maintain, or regain, a position of integrity in your life:
• Realize that the rules apply to you also. Generally, it is easily to enforce rules on others than it is to enforce is on ourselves. To act with integrity, we must subject ourselves to the appropriate rules that govern us.
• Don’t be partial with your favourites. There will always be people we like better than others because of a special value we place on our relationship with them. To act with integrity, we must draw clear boundaries for such relationships so that they don’t undermine our objectivity.
• Don’t victimize your ‘enemies’. In the same way as there are people we like, there are others that we don’t like. Whatever may be the reason for the dislike, it must not cloud our judgment when making objective decisions about them.
Prayer: Lord, teach me the ways of honesty and integrity that I may please You at all time. Scriptural Reading: Job 31:1-15
