LET THE WORD DWELL IN YOU RICHLY
Scripture: Colossians 3: 16

Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Through meditation we allow the Word of God to take root in our minds and hearts. Meditation is like the process of digesting and assimilating food into the body. We take in food so that our bodies can be enriched by the nutrients in them and not just because of taste. The taste is only to make us like the food but digestion and assimilation is what makes the food, work for us.

When we hear God’s Word, we start the process of digesting it and assimilating it into our system. But hearing is not enough. After hearing, we must take time to understand the Word; we must also allow the Word to displace our old ways of doing things.

The Word must replace old cultural or religious foundations that are contrary to the express revelation of God. The Word must shape our thoughts and our behavior.

When we approach God’s Word this way, it does not only taste good to us but it also dwells in us richly. The Word becomes our life; the Word becomes our conduct; the Word becomes our belief.

Whenever we find promises of God in the Bible, we must make an effort to fulfill all the conditions that will make it possible for us to claim the promises.

There are great promises of God covering every aspect of our lives. All of those promises are given so that we can take hold of the life that God intends for all His children.

Prayer: Father, from today, I promise to give Your Word first place in my life. Scriptural Reading: Colossians 3:12-17
