Look to the Lord
But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
Micah 7:7

There are not many words in the Bible more amazing than these: my God will hear me. The One who spoke all things into existence, who holds in his hand billions of galaxies spanning countless light years of space, he who knows every star by name, he who has numbered every hair on every head, he who rules over all history – he hears me! Our cries of despair, our cries for relief, our cries for rescue – he hears us. The prophet Micah, knowing that God knew all his trouble, offered this response of faith: I will wait for the God of my salvation.

Our time on earth seems so long in our eyes but it is less than an instant in the eyes of the eternal God. He is working out his perfect plan upon the earth and he assures us that one day he will bring justice to the earth and he will bring to an end all the suffering and pain of his people.

So far, that day is not today. So far, I remain on the earth. So far, my troubles remain. But I will not turn to neighbors or banks or politicians or even religious leaders to provide my rescue. I will look to the Lord. I will wait for him. I will trust in his timing and his way and I will know that he hears me when I cry to him.
