WHY SHOULD WE PRAISE THE LORD?
a. BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS…Ps 149:1 Praise Him because He is Lord. He is the ultimate authority. The highest power. The King of Kings and the Lord of all Lords. He was before all things and is the Maker of all things. Therefore He is greater than all things. Ps48:1 ; 96:4
b. PRAISE GLORIFIES GOD…Ps50:23 surely this should be the great desire of all God’s people, to glorify Him.
c. BECAUSE GOD COMMANDS US TO “Praise ye the Lord” is not a suggestion or a request. It is a commandment.
d. FOR ALL HIS BENEFITS… Ps 103:2
e. FOR HIS GOODNESS…Ps 107:21
f. FOR HIS MIGHTY ACTS..Ps 150:2
g. IT IS GOOD…Ps 92:1-2 ;147:1
h. HE IS WORTHY…2Sam 2:4 ; Ps18:3
i. PRAISE MAGNIFIE GOD…Ps 69:30
j. PRAISE IS PROPER…Ps 33:1 “Praise is comely”, means proper, right, fitting, appropriate, becoming and suitable. God says the garment of praise is most becoming upon them. Rejoicing in God and praising the Lord is suitable and proper for the child of god. I would much prefer to have the approval of God than that of men.
k. GOD INHABITS PRAISE…Ps 22:3 The Holy on of Israel inhabits our praises. If our heart is filled with praise, it is also filled with God, for He inhabits our praises. We can surround ourselves with God’s presence by cultivating the attitude of praise.
l. PRAISE GENERATES POWER ...Ps 84:4-7 the man who praises God has the Lord for his strength. He also knows the joy of the Lord through praise and the joy of the Lord is his strength (Neh 8:10)
m. TO RECEIVE RIGHT DESIRES…Ps 37:4 Many people say, “If only God would grant me the desires of my heart, how I would praise Him for it!” The divine order is the reverse of that. We praise Him and delight in Him and then He gives us the desires of our heat. God puts holy desires in the praising heart so we have the right desires.
n. PRAISE PRECEDES VICTORY…2chr 20:21, 22 they went before the army praising God. Imagine an army being led by a choir. How strange to the natural mind to go into battle this way. Remember but “… the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. They are strong to the pulling down of strongholds” (2cor 10:4). As we face our enemy, we need to realize afresh the power of praise and go into battle with the high praise s of god in our mouth. The people who truly learn to praise the Lord are the people who will know His presence and Power.
