Who is Jesus?
Matthew 16:16

Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

To be a Christian is to acknowledge that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ. He is more that a great teacher, prophet or founder of a religion. He is the Christ. This is the rock on which Christianity is built, “You are the Christ, the son of the Living God’. Every word in this statement is very emphatic and precise. It does not make a suggestion or a proposition. It is a statement of faith and conviction.

* You are. This is a statement of acknowledgement and devotion. It is not a general comment but a statement which is addressed to one particular individual.
* The Christ. The term ‘Christ’ means the anointed one who has come in fulfillment of the scriptures to redeem mankind from sin. It is also used in reference to the divinity of Jesus as well as His office. He is one with the Eternal Father.
* The Son. This term is used in reference to His relationship with the Eternal Father. He is the one who shows the true nature and character of the unseen God.
* Living God. This term is used to make a distinction between Jehovah and the dead idols of paganism. It also reveals God as the source of life and the one who is present all the time and lives eternally.

He is not ‘a’ Christ; but ‘the’ Christ. He is not one of many. He is the one and only Christ. When we come to Him in faith, He is able to save us totally from the powers of darkness so that we can enjoy the light of God.

Prayer: I believe in my heart and declare that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. Matthew 16:13-20

John 3:16 "For God so Heart you and me....."[/size]
